But Cincinnati’s largest outlet mall — Cincinnati Premium Outlets Monroe, Ohio — The opposite is true. It is adding half a dozen stores this summer and autumn.
Marketing Director Anne Winegardner said “We are opening 6 new stores over the summer and into this fall, it will be 8 total for 2022 this year.”
How is this possible in these difficult economic times when so many area malls are becoming ghost towns (with the exception Kenwood Towne Center).
Winegardner attributes 3 factors to the fact that many shoppers wanted open air shopping during the pandemic, as well as a wide variety of brand names and everyday discount pricing.
“A lot of our shoppers are used to 25 to 60 percent off every day savings, with outlet pricing, especially in this economy,”She said.
She claims that shoppers still want brands like Coach, Tory Burch, Adidas, Tory Burch, and Ralph Lauren, but don’t want to spend retail on those brands when their grocery bill is at record highs.
Even though the merchandise in these stores may not be the same as what you’d find at Nordstrom or Macy’s, it doesn’t seem that shoppers are bothered by this in these difficult economic times.
Crystal McVeigh, a shopper, said that signs promising markdowns were exactly what she was looking to find this back-to school season.
“These sales sound really good to me,”She said. “Considering yeah, we have 4 kids, so any kind of discount is amazing.”
New stores to open in 2022

With long-term stimulus checks, high gas and utility prices, and tight budgets, discount stores are the new rage this summer. Cincinnati Premium Outlets takes advantage of that.
