We’ve spent many years living on the earth and have learned to dress for all kinds of weather. Yet, we are still stuck by certain forecasts. If it says 40% chance of rain, should we totally skip the leather bag and pack a tiny umbrella — just in case? If it’s 70 degrees and sunny, should we wear a jacket? What do you wear in 50-degree weather?

We spent some time brainstorming the last one. With 50 degree days fresh in our minds we’ve gathered a few combinations, via streetstyle photos, to solve this problem. It’s okay to wear a coat and bulky boots, but you can skip the gloves.
You can find some more ideas below to help you get through the shoulder season in style.
A Sweater and Jeans
This combination is a classic in fashion-lover’s wardrobe. It’s simple and polished, and you have a lot of options to personalize it. Instead of wearing classic riding boots, go western with western-inspired boots or go collegiate with chunky socks. A colorful top coat, or even a leather jacket, will give your outerwear a fashion-forward twist.
Loafers, socks, and a jumpsuit
We love simple outfits on cold days. A one-piece jumpsuit is a great option. The fun part of personalizing your look is when you add little touches like a scarf, layered necklaces, and chunky shoes. It all depends on what vibe you are going for. A trench coat is a timeless staple that can be used to tie the entire look together.
A long skirt with boots
Contrary to popular belief, a skirt or dress can be one of the warmer options during the fall or winter months — especially if it’s longer in length, covering your legs and acting as a wearable blanket. Additional protection will be provided by a pair or knee-length boots and tights.
Many layers and tights
Although 50 degree days can be cold, they are also not that cold. That cold. A mini skirt or shorter dress could be worn with a few layers of smart layers, such as a turtleneck or blazer. However, tights will keep you from getting goosebumps.

Black Trousers
We love our jeans but there is a new option for pants trends: black trousers. While they are similar in comfort to sweats, oversized pairs are much more stylish and sleeker. There are many options for styling them, but we recommend a cardigan or graphic sweatshirt with an embroidery, and then a pair of sneakers with casual shoes.
A matching set
A good old matching set is another option for 50-degree weather. It doesn’t always have to be sweats. You can also pair 3-piece pairs with double denim and leather. You can add an extra layer to your wardrobe by adding a wool topcoat or a knit beneath.
Layered Turtleneck
As Stranger Things star Sadie Sink told InStyleThis trick is great to winterize your entire wardrobe. A turtleneck can be worn under a sweater or sweatshirt, button-down or dress. This will add warmth and create a preppy, eye-catching look that you can wear almost anywhere.
A Sweater and Sweatpants
It’s tempting to snuggle up in soft clothes when the wind is blowing and you’re cold. You can embrace that feeling by elevating your favorite sweatshirt. These bottoms will feel more intentional and less rushed if you stick with a color scheme. A sweater is a great alternative to a sweatshirt. A fuzzy coat will add warmth to the cozy theme.
A Puffer Vest
At the moment, we’re all about jellyfishing. That means styling a thick sweat or coat with slim-fitting pants. You don’t need a puffer to pull off this look. But big vests are also a good choice. This layer will keep your body warm when worn with cashmere or a scarf.
