Volunteers are needed to deliver meals on wheels

Volunteers are needed to assist Meals on Wheels Orange County with its home delivery program.

This program helps older adults by keeping their homes where they are most comfortable and lessening the loneliness that many of them face every day.

Meals on Wheels Orange County provides 2 million meals each year to more than 20,000 at risk older adults. This number nearly doubled during the pandemic. It needs volunteers to deliver meals to Anaheim, Buena park, Garden Grove, Midway City and Stanton.

Volunteers pick up meals from local senior or community centers and hand-deliver them to seniors’ homes on weekday mornings. Volunteers can volunteer once a week, or more often. Each route takes approximately one to two hours.

Home visits are COVID-safe. Masks and social distancing are required. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, have their own transportation, commit to at least eight weeks of service, and be able to drive. Background checks are required.
