Your parents owned Bath-based properties Homewood Park & the Queensberry. Were you meant for a life of hotels?
I think I was, but I didn’t know it at that time. I grew up hearing and knowing the names of all the great country hotel owners of the time, including Paul and Kay Henderson at Gidleigh Park. Coming home from school often meant spending time in the kitchen, getting in the wrong way, and eating things that I was not supposed. However, I loved the sounds, the smells, and the atmosphere.
