Tracy Kakuru Otatiina, digital content creator, believes that pregnancy is more than just preparing a nursery. It is an opportunity to express your style and creativity with ease.

Nkwanzee, the founder of Stratbridal, isn’t content to wear whatever she can find. She is styling her bump using a lot of fashion-forward pieces such as faux leather, monochromatic set and so many more. We had a great chat about maternity style. She shares what she has been pining during her pregnancy.

Who introduced you to maternity fashion and how did you feel?

My mum’s fashion style was unique and inspiring. My mom had a distinctive style that I loved. So I was introduced fashion by watching her wear dark lipstick, curl short hair, and wear skinny shades. She loved accessorizing with her outfits.

What fashion moment were your most eagerly awaiting?

When I’m expecting, I get excited to experiment with my everyday style. This will be my third child. I love putting together outfits that are both versatile, easy and comfortable. But, they also look stylish enough.

What’s your take on the modern-day pregnancy style that is anything but basic?

I love women who feel confident about their bodies during pregnancy. I don’t like maternity clothes that make you look and feel great. Contrary to popular belief, being pregnant doesn’t mean you have to stop working. Take this opportunity to shine and be your best self.

What fashion trends are you missing during pregnancy?

Best Choice

Chilliwack Down Bomber Coat in black with stretch rib waistband and cuff, exterior pockets, adjustable tunnel hood

Shell: 50% polyester, 50% cotton
Two-way zipper closure
Heavyweight

I won’t be doing spicy pregnancy shoots, which have been very popular lately. Rihanna’s pregnancy fashion was so great that it set many trends, such as full belly exposure. I will admit that she looked fantastic.

What can’t you get enough of in the closet?

Wearing monotone and stretchy clothes is not a good idea. These pieces are easy to style and will make a fashion statement.

What accessory do you use most often?

A great overcoat or throw-on can make an outfit stand out and makes you feel comfortable.

Which designer brand would you buy if you had the money?

Tubo, a luxury Nigerian fashion brand, has ready-to-wear pieces that I love. Tubo’s pieces have a fun element to the fabric and drawstring details. This brand is known for creating pieces that are easy to wear with effortless vibes.

What was your most memorable fashion moment as a mother-to-be?

I love weddings. It is a major part of what I do at Strat Bridel. My favourite fashion moment has been creating looks that can enhance a baby’s appearance and have me looking stylish.
