The Well Aesthetics
Phoebe Guymer, La Jolla resident, recently opened The Well Aesthetics for the 8th Harmony relaxation facility at 7818 Ivanhoe Ave.
“Skin is my focus,”Guymer said. “I work on the skin and in the skin to keep it in balance, which yields glowing skin.”
“We look at the microbiome of the skin, not trying to strip it but build it up, and work with the lymphatic system,”She added. “We use a machine that moves the lymphatic system along by mimicking the pulse.”

Whiskey & Leather
Saturday, November 5, at 7884 Girard Ave., the Whiskey & Leather Boutique will open.

The Whiskey & Leather boutique, which joins stores in Santa Barbara, Del Mar, and La Jolla, will open its third location, at 7884 Girard Ave., in La Jolla on Saturday, Nov. 5.
The store will be opening at 10 a.m. to 6. p.m. with 15% off everything and gift bags.
The men’s and women’s clothing establishment, owned by area resident Ariel Hujar, features staple pieces such as jeans and T-shirts, plus hats and vibrantly colored tops. It hosts private events, including whiskey tastings. But whiskey will not sold in the La Jolla shop.
“My best friend and I opened the Santa Barbara one seven years ago,”Hujar stated. “We were both tomboys that wanted to provide a place to buy clothes with that type of aesthetic. We wanted something gender-neutral to get guys to come in, too.”
Hujar said there’s “a little something for everyone,”This includes brands and styles that change with the seasons. A winter cashmere line will also be available at the La Jolla Opening.
“I love the area and always opened stores in areas where I live,”She said. “Plus, La Jolla needed another boutique.”

Mamak Custom Tailoring

Mamak Bahrami will open Custom Tailoring by Mamak after 10 years in La Jolla.
The business will offer custom alterations for men’s and women’s clothing, from suits to prom dresses, with most work done in 24 hours.
“I went to school for tailoring in Iran and here [in the United States],”Bahrami said. “It’s my love and my hobby; it’s everything. I love sewing and the response from customers.”
Bahrami’s handiwork is not the only thing she does. She also has a catalogue of clothing that customers can order for her to tailor.

Classic Burger
Classic Burger will open at 615 Pearl St. in November.
Patrons can order a burger that lets them enjoy the outdoors, as the name suggests. “the ingredients shine”Perez Segura Jr., a chef, said that there are no frills.
“There aren’t going to be truffles from France, just a nice consistent burger,” Segura said. “We want there to be big, elevated flavors with simple ingredients.”
But with a background in fine dining, Segura can’t resist adding something different. Segura uses red onions but makes a red onion jam to go with his creations. “It brings out the sweetness of the onion and brings a little acidity to the burger,”He said.
Segura learned to cook from his grandfather, and began making family dinners at age 8. He went on to culinary school, and worked in fine-dining establishments throughout San Diego.
“Fine dining is great, but the effort that goes into those dishes is astronomical,”He said. “Food can be simple but bold. I like simplicity.”

The 376-room hotel San Diego Marriott La JollaBuilt in 1985, this property was sold recently for $187.6 Million to a global asset manager firm as part of a multibillion -dollar portfolio sale.
The hotel is located at 4240 La Jolla Village Drive last changed hands in 2016Carey Watermark Investors purchased the property for $131 million. Brookfield Asset Management purchased the real estate investment trust now known as Watermark Lodging Trust in May for $3.8billion. Watermark’s portfolio of 25 hotels, now owned by Brookfield, accounts for more than 8,100 rooms.
CoStar, a commercial realty firm, reported that the Marriott La Jolla had a sale price of nearly $188million, or roughly $500,000 per room. Comparatively, the 416-room Marriott Lajolla was sold for nearly $188 million or about $500,000 per room. Celebration
Jose’s CourtroomThe company will mark its 50th anniversary by celebrating with a “50ñera”Saturday, November 5. From 11 a.m. to closing at 1037 Prospect St. at night, the festivities will include drink specials, an mariachi band throughout the day, and a DJ at midnight.
Jose’s has been owned by Tigg Mitchell since summer 2007. Chef Jose Rodriguez, who is not the restaurant’s namesake, has been working in the kitchen for the past 35 years.
Pavillions
After more than six years of preparation, La Jolla’s VonsA supermarket at 7544 Girard Ave. is now the Pavilions brand.
“We will feature an expanded selection of organic produce, butcher block featuring wagyu beef and dry-aged beef, a wine cellar and a specialty cheese selection,”Courtney Carranza, director for communications and public affairs at Vons’ Southern California division, previously spoke to the La Jolla Light.
