This high-octane closet is a far cry from what Machine Gun Kelly was wearing when he entered the music industry as a rapper in the late ’00s up through the late 2010s. He released a video in 2018. “Rap Devil”—a bonafide Eminem diss track in which he performed shirtless in simple black pants, ate cereal, and carried a shovel. In his other videos from the same time period, he’s typically in a nondescript shirt and pants. When the artist entered the pop-punk world, he started embracing the genre’s utilitarian baggy shorts and white tank look. There wasn’t much brighter yet. It wasn’t until his Tickets To My DownfallAlbum that we started to see electric flickers in his outfits of yellow or pink.

Machine Gun Kelly is a full-blown fashion and music peacock. Still, he’s not your typical high fashion guy. Sure, he’s worn his fair share of designer clothes, but he’s not wearing hard-to-find archival items. He is not wearing the hottest brands like Ernest W. Baker or SS Daley, nor celebrity-favorite brands like Givenchy or Louis Vuitton. He doesn’t seem like he has any intention of polishing his look in the classic sense, and instead prefers under-the-radar labels.

This is a good thing, because classic wouldn’t work for the man. This bold, larger-than-life style suits the musician who is playful and loves to experiment. No matter how loud the music is, his clothes will never outshine or distract him. They should complement him. Here, MGK is calling for the sartorial shots. It’s quite entertaining, and sometimes even chic.
