How to Style Boots in the Summer 2022

My black cowboy boots are the dark horse candidate for my summer shoe of choice. They can be very impractical on 90-degree day, but they are a good choice for me because I am a girl with a nascent sense of style that was formed during the golden age. Since entering my late 20s, however, boots and cut-off shorts aren’t really something I can get away with wearing to the office, so I’ve been on the hunt for warm-weather outfit inspiration where I don’t have to put all of my winter shoes into storage. Here, I’ve gathered some of my favorite summer boot formulas that you can emulate when your sandals are giving you blisters.

Cowboy Boot + Long Romantic Outfit

This combination of a flowing romantic dress and cowboy boots is my favorite. These colors are stunning and I paired a fluttery floral dress in periwinkle with my black boots. The dress should be light in weight and loosely fitted. I will be daydreaming about this outfit on a small farm in upstate New York for at most a week.

This outfit makes the strongest case for jorts I’ve seen in a long time and is a fabulous example of repurposing winter boots for summer. You can replace the sweatshirt with a large T-shirt or breezy button-up for hotter days. You can also wear a jacket on cooler days. I would recommend something similar in length to your shorts, or slightly longer.

This summer, we’re going oversized. The Olsens have long proven that drowning in cloth is incredibly chic—the trick for summer is to ensure the fabric is breathable and doesn’t cling close. The look is completed with a pair of black, chunky boots.
