The School of Art & Design is looking for a Fashion Design faculty member.
The ideal candidate is a skilled fashion industry designer with design leadership experience. This will be primarily in the areas of concept formation and visual communication of fashion development via digital and hand applications.
The candidate must be able to combine professional practiced, hands on illustration techniques with the execution of original design sketches or cohesive design collections. It is essential to be able to teach fashion design foundation courses in AAS fashion design using a mix of innovative and traditional methods.
The minimum experience required for a fashion designer is six years. However, the ideal candidate will have more professional background than that.
This position requires a deep understanding of fashion trends and current successful practices across several methods. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach fashion drawing, flat sketching and fabric rendering to students. The candidate will collaborate with colleagues from their department to develop and implement a new curriculum.
It is expected that the candidate selected will develop and/or establish their personal areas.
Tenure is awarded based on the strength of the applicant. These areas could include relevant research, fashion show presentations, exhibitions, proposal development, cultivation of industry support or creative/scholarly work in fashion design.

Minimum of six (6) years’ experience as a fashion design professional is required. Candidates must have a strong fashion portfolio that showcases professional work, including industry recognition and relevant press. Fashion designers require digital skills and knowledge of specific apparel software.
Master’s degrees preferred.
Higher education teachers should have at least three (3) years of teaching experience.
This position requires that you read and comprehend constantly, perform calculations occasionally, communicate verbally, analyze frequently, and write constantly. This position requires that you can work in a classroom, lab, or office environment. You may need to use chemicals or machinery in certain roles. This position requires a lot of sitting, standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 10 lbs. or less.
