Police take suspect Rosemont mall shooter into custody
An 18-year old man was taken into custody for shooting two people and killing one at the Fashion Outlets of Chicago in Rosemont last Wednesday.
ROSEMONT, Ill. – An 18-year old man was taken into custody for shooting two people and killing one at the Fashion Outlets of Chicago in Rosemont last Wednesday.
Jose G. Matias, was taken into custody Wednesday around 3:15 PM.
Matias was placed under arrest Tuesday.
The shooting that occurred on March 25 was caused by an argument between Joel Valdes, Matias and Matias.
Surveillance video shows that Matias was seen pulling out a gun and firing in the direction Valdes.
Valdes was taken to the hospital and declared dead.
Rosemont police report 1 death and 1 injury in Fashion Outlets of Chicago shooting
Rosemont authorities have confirmed that one person has been killed and two others were injured in a shooting at Fashion Outlets of Chicago.

Another victim, a 15-year old girl who was an innocent bystander was also shot.
She is currently in recovery at home.
Matias left the mall after the shooting in a Maroon Honda Honda.

The vehicle was located in Bellwood by the Cook County Sheriff’s Police.
Witnesses also identified Matias as shooter in the incident.
