It’s easy to see the effects of people finally returning to their offices regularly: public transportation is more crowded, there’s more traffic during rush hour, and my TikTok For You Page is full of “office outfits I wore this week” videos. After working so long from home, I have difficulty finding cute outfits to wear to work.

The Everygirl office dress code is casual but I like to look professional. Even if you work in casual offices, it’s okay to dress up occasionally for important meetings and special visitors. 

Dressing for work gets even trickier in the warmer months because the last thing you want (especially if your commute involves any walking) is to show up to work sweating through your clothes. That’s why we’ve put together six office outfits that are easy to wear, not too hot, and will have you feeling chic and confident at work. 

 

Laid back but chic…

When I looked up “work outfits”My Pinterest searches revealed that almost every cool fashion model I saw was wearing this outfit. A bodysuit can be used as a base layer to a pair of tailored wide-leg linen trousers with an oversized white button-up. Finish the outfit with a cute pair of platform sandals and a brown leather tote and you’ll look like you just walked into your office straight from the streets of Paris.

Summer brings with it more social events due to the longer hours of daylight and warmer weather. You might plan a date right after work one day. This is why you need a look that can be worn from day to night. If I’m getting dressed for work, there’s an 85% chance I’m putting on some form of this outfit—a casual top, a blazer, and jeans. It’s so popular for a reason: It just always works. It can be made more summery with a ribbed top, a light blazer in a pastel colour, and a fun bag. Finish it off with a pair of super-chic nude slingback mules and you’ve got yourself the easiest business casual outfit ever.

For the commuter…

You need to be careful about what you wear if you commute by public transport (or walking) to work. Comfortable shoes, a bag that is easy to carry, and a pair of sunnies are essential. As I said, summer is a time when there are more social events. In winter, we just want to get home and relax after work. But in the summer, when it’s still bright and warm when you walk out those office doors, it’s all about happy hour. An easy look that can be worn all day is a white blouse and linen pants with a pull-on waist (lots more room for happy hour apps), is a great choice.
